Westhaven is the most unique, expansive, and upscale planned Golf Community in the state of Tennessee. Westhaven is built on 1,543 acres and will house 2,596 residential units and over 500k/sq-ft of commercial and retail space.
The Gated community is located 2 miles directly west of downtown Historic Franklin on highway 96 and is 16 miles from downtown Nashville.
|
Westhaven is a Traditional Neighborhood Development of which represents a return to small-town living and a reawakening of the American hometown spirit. Modeled after the historic town of Franklin, and situated on 1,543 acres, when completed, Westhaven will consist of five neighborhoods. Housing choices range from starter homes to high-end residences.
Westhaven is configured to minimize the need for residents to travel off-site to meet daily necessities. When complete, Westhaven will provide many of its residents with housing, jobs, shopping, entertainment, and civic institutions, all within walking or extremely short driving distances. If you want to drive, Westhaven residents will find world class shopping, dining, cultural, and sporting events all within 20 minutes of home.

The site is divided into five neighborhoods, each approximately one-half mile across to correspond to a five minute pedestrian walk from edge to center. Each neighborhood has as its figural center; an open space reserved for public use, and is surrounded by higher density housing and mixed-use buildings. These centers will serve as the main gathering points for the community.
|
The neighborhoods are defined by a system of greenways, playing fields, parks, and squares, comprising approximately 800 acres in total. This open space system is shaped by the existing streams on the site and is gradated for different intensities of human use, from the mostly undisturbed nature corridor to the most urbanized town square. The road network also corresponds to the variations in the site's topography.
Street intersections meet at triangular greens or acute angles in order to avoid massive re-grading and the unnecessary removal of mature trees. Additional ‘pocket parks' and open spaces are distributed throughout the plan, and bicycle and equestrian trails wind through the greenway. Westhaven is setting staggering sales records and attracting diverse residents, including single professionals, downsizing baby boomers, and young families.

A World Class Golf Course! Westhaven's 18-hole golf course, designed by international renowned architects Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest and Associates will be unique in its core design and feature an extensive array of fairways. The golf club is planned to feature a clubhouse with a dining room and banquet hall facilities, golf pro shop, members swimming pool, and four lighted tournament-level tennis courts.
|
Westhaven Golf Club architects Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest & Associates utilized design elements including a variety in shot values and angles, interesting grasses and plants, gently-plateaued greens, and water features. Spanning 200 acres and featuring its own clubhouse, pro shop and grille, it is destined to become one of the area's premier private golf clubs.
“Westhaven brings an exceptionally beautiful site – rolling land that is river bound and dotted with trees – to the core golf course concept. The course property has been set aside to provide 160 acres of golf alone, as no residential development is found within the course framework. Golfers get to focus on this golf course, and enjoy its sovereign beauty.” – Arthur Hills
Westhaven Golf Club is a private, championship 18-hole golf course, in Franklin, Tennessee, from land developer Southern Land Company. The name derives from the adjacent upscale community, Westhaven, from which the 200 acres best suited to golf were chosen from its original 1,500. As a “core” course, none of the Westhaven homes will line the course; this allows members to enjoy a true golfing experience in a completely natural setting.
Golf course award winning architect Arthur Hills has always admired traditional golf courses, such as Pinehurst #2, Shinnecock Hills, Cypress Point, Prairie Dunes, Seminole, Merion and Inverness. Taking a historic approach to every course he designs, his goal is to exceed expectations of beauty, preservation of natural features, strategic design and quality of construction. To that end, he includes elements which make for a fair and balanced course that is both aesthetically pleasing and strategically sound.
Unlike the vast majority of residential golf clubs built over the past 50 years, Westhaven Golf Club will be designed using a traditional “core” configuration reminiscent of the finest courses from golf’s golden age of architecture. As such, Westhaven Golf Club is a development separate from the Westhaven community; homes will not line the course. This allows the serious golfer true escape, an absence of distraction, and magical hours spent communing with the game and with nature.
As developer of the Westhaven Golf Club, Southern Land Company applies the same attention to detail used in the development of 20 luxury communities in as many years. With homes ranging in the $350s to more than $4 million, located in major metropolitan areas in Tennessee and Texas, the firm’s experience is broad and multi-layered, and has garnered many awards. The Westhaven neighborhood is known for its park-like setting, lush horticulture, and historic architecture, which will extend to the private golf course.
The championship golf course is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2009. Parks and playgrounds, bike paths, hiking and walking trails, a 12-acre lake and an outdoor amphitheatre will provide abundant opportunities for recreation and relaxation while greenways, wetlands, stately trees and a natural habitat area ensure preservation of the land's natural beauty.
Westhaven will include a center with a lakeside main street, shops, cafés, restaurants, businesses and civic centers within a short walk from most every home. A planned elementary school, day care, open-air amphitheatre and places of worship will also be part of Westhaven's community.
Westhaven is devoted to conservation and in sustaining the surrounding natural beauty Williamson County has to offer. To maintain this, Westhaven has allocated 50 percent of its land (768 acres) to open green space.

Standing over twenty feet in height with bowl diameters of five feet and thirteen feet respectively the fountain is one of the largest cast by the foundry.
Luke Robinson acted as liaison between the two companies tweaking the conceptual elements until the fountain was complete. "We just kept sketching until we got it right," said Robinson. "It was most important that it expressed everything the client desired."

Painted white and installed in a dramatically spacious park set among newly built homes the fountain is a gathering place for afternoon strollers and playing children.
